Description
After a devastating flood in 1957, the city of Valencia made plans to divert the Turia River to prevent this from ever happening again. By 1969 the riverbed was completely dry leaving 5 miles of land for redevelopment. The result has been a magnificent urban green space for visitors and locals alike to enjoy. The recently built City of Arts and Sciences complex is probably the most fascinating area. A wonder of modern architecture designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, this cultural complex has something for everyone. Pictured here is The Agora Building (L'Agora), a versatile venue for hosting cultural and sports events, easily recognisable by its blue color and glass roof running along its spine. I hand blended textures with my original photograph in black and white.
