Description
Tughra
This is the signature of Suleiman the Magnificent. It can be translated as the always victorious Sultan Suleiman, who is the son of Sultan Selim.
It was not written by the Sultan himself and was created by the officers in charge of signing papers on behalf of the Sultan.
The tughra used to act as the signature of the Sultan. It represents the Ottoman domination, culture and art on its own.
The inscription on the work was depicted by Fuat Baser, a modern calligraphist.
Work: Adorned with 22-carat gold. Sized paper on the background. The inscription was written with a material called soot ink.
Size: 30x30cm
