Description
In this rare collaborative effort by the little-known painters Trego and Williams, two trappers clad in deerskins, and two of their four hunting dogs, look toward an unknown objective in the distance, out of range of the canvas. The image combines naivety of execution with realism of content: the brown horse, drooping and up to its ankles in snow, is particularly expressive of the hardships of the fur trade.
